Chocolate and Turquoise

I fell in love with this adorable party from Sharmel at My Life - My Loves. The party was for her daughters 11th birthday and the theme was Chocolate! I love the color combo of the chocolate brown and turquoise. The guests decorated (and ate) cupcakes, (how cute are those boxes?!) and snacked on other fabulous goodies. That dessert table is so chic! Love the large white balloons. Such a simple backdrop for the table, yet so elegant. What a lucky little girl! Gorgeous Sharmel! Find more pictures at Sharmel's blog!

Just Jello....? Think again!

Ok, I am officially obsessed with this fabulous Jello idea from Joy at JaeBellz. (Found via Sweetly Sweet). I am not usually a Jello person, myself (I think it's a texture thing....) but there is no way I can resist when it looks thinks amazing! It will wow all your guests! It can be customized with any flavor or color combination, that Jello makes, to match your event theme. And the colors can be mixed and matched or keep uniform, with one color. To die for! Never thought I'd say that about Jello! Thanks Joy for such a fantastic idea! You can find a picture tutorial and all the instructions here.

Sweet Shrooms......

How adorable are these mushroom pops? I found them at The Paper Pony, (via Be Different, Act Normal). They are made from the materials above and seem like they would be fairly easy to make. How perfect would these pops be for a woodland theme party, of course a Smurfs party, or even an Alice in Wonderland theme! You can find the instructions, as well as a picture tutorial here, to make your own.

Perfect Pillows

I saw this DIY project over at Apartment Therapy and wanted to run out to the store to purchase the supplies! Not only would this be a cute addition to your own home, but what a great idea for a hostess gift, or even customize each pillowcase with a guests name for a slumber party! Love!

You Will Need:

  • Access to a computer and printer
  • 2 cotton pillowcases
  • Freezer paper (available in any grocery store)
  • Fabric paint in your desired color(s)
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil
  • X-Acto knife
  • Iron and ironing board

Instructions
  1. Find a font you like on your computer, and use a graphics or word processing program to type out the words you want to stencil onto your pillowcases. We made our letters about 6" tall and used the front "Century Gothic". Print out copies of the words you would like to stencil. You can create a stencil that says whatever you want, or you could also draw shapes freehand.
  2. Tape the printout onto a sunny window. Cut a piece of freezer paper that is larger than the word you have printed out by at least a couple of inches and tape it over your printout, with the shiny side facing away from you. Use a pencil to trace the letters onto the freezer paper.
  3. Using an X-Acto knife, cut the letters out of the freezer paper. (Tip: For letters such as the lower case "e" in "hers", be sure to retain the small half-circle shape from inside the "e".)
  4. Iron the pillowcase flat and place the freezer paper stencil shiny-side down on top. Use a medium-heat iron with no steam to adhere the stencil to the fabric. The shiny side will melt with the heat of your iron, fusing temporarily to the fabric to create a stencil that fabric paint won't seep beneath.
  5. Once the stencil is cool, you can slip a piece of cardboard or newspaper into the pillowcase (to protect the other side) and paint over the stencil using fabric paint. One coat should be all you need. Allow to dry.
  6. Once paint is dry, peel off the stencil. If your fabric paint requires you to heat-set it with an iron, you can do so at this time. Otherwise, slip the pillowcases on to your pillows and take a nap!

Totally Toxic!

I love this party theme from Pam, over at Party Starters. This "hazardous" party was held for her teenage son's birthday. I have never seen a party done with this theme before, and I'm not sure why....cause I love it! I love the bright green color, all the little toxic details, and those cupcakes are perfect! Great job Pam! Check out all the rest of the party pictures here.
